Your family has made the mistake that will affect how much time and money you have for next year’s vacation trip. It happens to the best of us. The important question is, what are you going to do about it? Here’s how to help save your wallet, family, and vacation time in the face of a mistake.
There’s a lot of budget mistakes, emergencies that happen, and investments that go wrong. Welcome to the real world. We all make those mistakes. That is the part of life where you are growing, learning, and finding unexpected relief in the simple things of life.
But when you’re in the middle of a crisis because your bank accounts might be screaming NO Disney vacation or Disney world visit this year, it’s hard to figure out how to appreciate the simple things of life.
Your family tradition of visiting Disney world, or making sure the new kids in your family get to experience the magic is critical to future family relationships.
You need to find a way to quickly deal with this situation to get things back on track and salvage your budget for next year’s Disney vacation.
For our purposes, we have gone ahead and researched some hacks and tips from other Disney Vacation experts and compiled the shortlist of the best ones here for you.
- Rides – Use FastPasses Strategically
Snag a FastPass from the Disney Vacation Club office on site or at Space Mountain and make your way to the back of the park for Splash Mountain and while waiting enjoy the waves. Then come back to the front of the park and use your FastPass for the Space Mountain rides once the crowd has started to break for lunch.
BONUS: Be fueled for all that dashing around. Get the breakfast pass, and get in the park an hour before everyone else: See details here: http://www.goinformed.net/beat-the-crowds-and-skip-the-line-at-disney-worlds-frozen-ever-after-ride/
- Hotel – Stay in Luxury but pay like a smart person
If you are going to visit Disney World even once, this hack is going to save you thousands on next years vacation. DVC stands for Disney Vacation Club. And it is the ability to buy a pool of points to stay at a multitude of Disney resorts for a fraction of the price.
Here’s an example:
A one week stay in October at Animal Kingdom Lodge:
Room booked through Disney:
Standard View: $2766
Savannah View: $3730
Room rented using DVC points:
Value View: $966
Standard View: $1232
Savannah View: $1624
That’s over half off!
Using the DVC points
And saving thousands of dollars on your hotel that you can reinvest into family outings in the evening or spending on your family in other ways.
BONUS: Home in your trip ahead of time and buy the points for the location and dates you want. Use our handy dandy points calculator to make your DVC trip right on point so you can save time and money not moving the flights or dates of your work vacation time around.
Keeping clients and family both happy.

- Travel in style.
This one takes some planning. But Disney World offers a free ground transport service to all of its guests. It is perfectly named the Magical Express. It is a full-size bus that accommodates all travelers to their desired destinations in the DisneyWorld ecosystem. Your luggage will be taken directly from the plane to the hotel or resort room.
Did you hear us? → NEVER WAIT FOR LUGGAGE AT BAGGAGE CLAIM EVER AGAIN.
For this to work you have to sign up before your trip.
This saves all the hours of waiting to get to your room and relax before your vacation begins. See here to sign up: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/magical-express/
BONUS: This is simple. Mouse Savers is the best website for information on any airline and way to save money on your airplane tickets to Disney. Booking in advance has it advantages, but knowing how to book and where is what Mouse Savers does best. http://www.mousesavers.com/transportation-for-disney-vacations/discounts-on-airplane-tickets-for-disney-vacations/
- Gifts: Don’t waste money on the merch.
This is a tough one but as seasoned parents now know, their children learn about the toys they want to buy from cartoons and from tv shows. Train your children to tell you the merchandise they want ahead of time, and buy it from amazon or eBay ahead of time at discounted prices. Then you can mark it with their names when you bring it to the park and it can be returned to you if lost.
Make a list of the gear your kids, or hubby wants ahead of time. Purchase at a discounted price and buy yourself some overdue new jewelry with all the money and headache you saved. Your welcome.
BONUS: Simple and awesome → free magic band for DVC members:
- Eat Dinner for free every night
Disney loves to give things away for free. And we are not talking about such free soda, water, or a sampling of chocolate here. We are talking about Table Service credits, free entree’s, and desserts.
How it works:
When you’re using a Disney Dining Plan, you can use it toward these things:
- Table Service credits – used at participating Table Service restaurants, includes an entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage. People using the Deluxe Dining Plan also get an appetizer with lunch and dinner.
- Quick Service credits – used at participating Quick Service restaurants, includes an entree, non-alcoholic beverage (plus dessert if you’re eating lunch or dinner)
- Snack credits – used at many locations, including some food carts. Can be used for everything from a bottle of water to cotton candy to an ice cream bar. For the most current list of snacks, see this DISBoard list of confirmed snacks.
- Refillable mugs – each dining plan includes a refillable mug for every guest who is 3 years old or older that can be refilled in any resort but not in the parks
See here to understand the way to sign up for free dinners. https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/media/dvc/languagespecific/eng/member/vacationplanning/disneydiningplan/2016-Jan%20DVC-DDP.pdf
We snuck this in for extra in case you needed it: Free water/ Free soda – You can get a free (!) cup of water at any quick-service food location. Just ask! Bonus tip: At Epcot’s Club Cool, you can enjoy free Coke products. Be sure to try the Beverley!
Ok, the last one we found that saved TIME and money was using the app called Trello to plan, map out, and keep everyone informed about your vacation trip to Disney.
Vacation Club members have raved to us about this article:
Using Trello to make out the day for your family ahead of time, and making all your children’s devices know where to find you and when to be at rides if you get separated.
In celebration of Walt Disney World’s 60th anniversary, a new restaurant opened at the park this past December! Themed after the Jungle Cruise ride, Skipper Canteen is a table service restaurant located in the Adventureland section of the Magic Kingdom. The eatery boasts three themed dining rooms, served by waiters Jungle Cruise Skippers with a sense of humor. The menu features a mix of South American, African, and Asian cuisines.
Skipper Canteen goes well beyond the “burgers and fries” (see new menu here: Click for menu)fare that is typical of in-park eateries. Tempted? Your first stop is to check DVC listings and find the property that is right for you. Just imagine: waking up the modern comfort of Bay Lake Tower, and spending a day full of fun and adventure in the Magic Kingdom. Dinner time comes around, and you’re in the mood for something different. The Jungle Navigation Company, Limited Skipper Canteen to the rescue! When you own a Disney Vacation Club membership, while you own something called “real estate”, it’s not a building or land you own; you own a certain number of points, good for a year. You use those points to stay at Disney owned and affiliated resorts. Your membership is assigned to a Home Resort, where the points are worth more (more days for less points), but you can use them at other resorts. The specific details of how may points you have, the month in which your year begins, the distant (but not TOO distant) year in which your points expire, and the season in which you cash in your points for time at a resort are complex. Numerous devoted folks have created fantastic web pages devoted to explaining this system, complete with written volumes, spreadsheets, and charts. If you decide to purchase a DVC membership, you are encouraged to engage in plenty of research. Don’t leave yourself with questions!
If you decide that a system of owning points for vacation time is right for you, there are several options you may pursue. The most straight forward is heading over to www.disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com and following the steps to buying in to the club. Unfortunately, if you buy directly from The Mouse, you will pay their prices, buy under their terms, and only have access to the specific resorts and point packages that they are offering at that current time. If you want to have more options, pursuing membership through DVCresales is th e path you should follow! Resellers, like us here at DVC Magic are experienced in matching Members hwo are selling Disney Vacation Club time with folks like you who want to invest in a perfect Disney vacation this time, and EVERY time in the future! Your options are not constrained to only what Disney has to offer,
Does the idea of owning a DVC membership sound golden to you, but you can’t imagine spending all that time at resorts each year? There’s a solution for you, too! Many DVC resellers help to negotiate point rentals. They look through DVC listings, and find solutions for savvy vacationers who want to enjoy the relaxed pace of Disney resorts like you, but don’t want to sink all of the cash in to paying for four nights and three days in a villa. As a Member, you don’t have to worry about wasting your money on points you are unable to use, and the vacationer gets to have an enojyable time with their family for a fantastic price! A small profit for the Member makes this a worthwhile consideration.
For many, buying a beach house or a cabin in the mountains is the pinnacle of relaxation and vacation bliss. However, if you want more options, and you’re a frequent guest of Disney already, a DVC Membership may be right for you. With points, you have the freedom of vacationing when you want, where you want, under your own terms. You have the flexibility of a great bang for your invested buck at your home resort, or seeing new places and different faces at a resort you’ve never been to. Please drop us a line, and let DVC Magic make your Disney vacation dreams come true!
As a DVC condominium owner it is imperative to stay up-to- date with the ever so changing
renovations that occur throughout the year. Condominium DVC members realize that the DVC
holds an annual meeting in December called the Condominium Association Meeting but many
of these members are not able to attend. So we will clear the air of all renovations that the
Disney Vacation Club is planning to refurbish. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Disney Vacation Club in-turn calling for many renovations throughout various different resorts. The renovations that will occur will mainly entail soft goods vs hard goods. The soft good
renovations usually include carpets, bedding, upholstery, and curtains. Hard good

sleeper bunk will be added in the Deluxe studios.

The year is halfway over. We are still celebrating the 25th anniversary of Disney vacation club. There is a lot going on this year. The parks and resorts are joining the fun and doing a ton of extra DVC member perks.
It is a special year at Disney. There is a celebration of Disneyland’s 61th year. Disney World’s 45th year, and DVC’s 25th year. It is a magical time in the Disney kingdom to be a part of the vacation club.
